Call for Nominations for Officers and Board

As usual, this winter we will be sending out a ballot for election of Officers and Board members. Because positions rotate on a three-year cycle, the positions of President-elect, Secretary and Treasurer are currently open for nominations, along with 3 Board positions.

This is an opportunity for you to be involved in choosing the leadership for your Society. The Officers and Board really value your input in choosing those who will make decisions that will allow SSPC to continue to grow and prosper. Please send Officer and Board nominations to Jim Boehnlein at boehnlei@ohsu.edu no later than February 15. You can nominate yourself or other SSPC members, but for anyone you nominate, please verify their willingness to be nominated for the position. Also, please include a brief bio paragraph and a CV as part of the nomination.

Here are the open positions for Officers, with a brief description of duties:

President-elect (James Griffith [Griff] currently is President-elect, and will become President for a 3-year term at the April 22-24 Annual Meeting)
The President-Elect is also the Vice President of SSPC, and is responsible for presiding over Board meetings in the absence of the President and for performing such duties as are assigned by the President or the Board from time to time.

Secretary (Bonnie Kaiser currently is Secretary, and is eligible to be elected to a 2nd term)
The Secretary shall: (a) keep the minutes of Board meetings; (b) see that all notices are duly given in accordance with the provisions of the Bylaws; (c) be responsible for custody of the Society records; (d) keep records of the address of each director; (e) sign, with the President or other Officer authorized by the President or the Board, contracts or other instruments; and (f) in general perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary and other duties that may be assigned to him or her by the President or by the Board.

Treasurer (Alan Teo currently is Treasurer, and is eligible to be elected to a 2nd term)
The Treasurer shall have charge and custody of and be responsible for all Society funds; receive and give receipts for funds due and payable to the Society, and deposit funds in Society accounts in accordance with the provisions of these Bylaws; and in general perform all of the duties incident to the office of Treasurer and such other duties that may be assigned to him or her by the President or by the Board.

3 Board positions are available for nominations (3-year terms):

These positions are currently held by Vincenzo Di Nicola, Anna Fiskin, and Sylvanna Vargas. They are completing their 1st terms and are eligible for a 2nd term

2021 SSPC Award Nominations

In preparation for the SSPC virtual annual meeting April 22-24, it is time to open nominations for the three SSPC awards. Lifetime Achievement and Creative Scholarship nominations can be made on the nomination form (click the below button to download). In addition, please consider worthy nominees for the Liz Kramer SSPC Service Award (for distinguished and significant service to the organization), and you can suggest nominees in your return email.

Nominations for the awards should be returned to Jim Boehnlein at boehnlei@ohsu.edu by February 15.
